We invite you to join Paul Marcus wine lovers this fall for a wine and culinary tour of Piemonte. Paul Marcus Wines is teaming up with La Vita Vera Italia Tours, who will take a small group of our customers to visit this region in northwestern Italy. This is a wonderful chance to get to know Piemonte in depth - its wine producers, its restaurants, its food markets, and other aspects of its unique culture.
Piemonte is the source of Italy's greatest red wines (Barolo and Barbaresco), as well as supremely satisfying everyday reds (Barbera and Dolcetto) and equally delicious white wines (Arneis, Gavi, and Moscato d'Asti, to name a few). In addition, Piemonte offers some of the best food in all of Italy. The quality and local character of the ingredients are superb: hazelnuts, chestnuts, white truffles, cheeses, Carnaroli and Arborio rice, Piemontese beef, wild boar.... And Piemontese cooks, whether at home or in a restaurant, use these ingredients to create dishes that are almost unbelievably delicious. Wine and food writer Matt Kramer has called Piemontese cuisine "Italy's most glorious regional table", and we at Paul Marcus Wines agree.
La Vita Vera Italia Wine & Culinary Tours is a family business started by former Bay Area residents Jay Russell and Denise Pardini. They organize tours featuring the wines, food, and local culture of Piemonte and other wine regions of Italy. Jay and Denise now live in the heart of the Barolo zone and have tailored a tour specifically for us. You will meet the winemakers and taste the wines of many of the producers we offer in our Piemontese selection in the store. Then in the region's excellent restaurants, you'll drink many of those wines alongside the dishes that they go best with.
Mark Middlebrook from Paul Marcus Wines will join the group, which is limited to 16 participants. Dates for our tour are November 1-7, 2004.
